Contacts
The focus for the FWBO in a particular town or city is the local FWBO Centre. There are around 65 centres in cities around the world as well as fifteen retreat centres. They run a variety of activities to introduce people to meditation, and others which are concerned with learning about Buddhism. People are free to take as much or as little as they like. Some attend the occasional class, while for others the centre becomes the main focus of their life.
Each centre is the focus for the local sangha, or community of Buddhists in the FWBO. They may choose to live or work together; they may meet at classes, study groups, practice days or retreats run by the centre; or they may come together informally in practice and friendship.
From our addresses page you can navigate to the sub-list that most describes your location in the world and check to see if there is a centre or group near you.
The FWBO online
The FWBO has a wide range of websites available on the Internet, through which you can meet us individually or institutionally. This is a guide to some of our sites.
You can find out about some of the people in the FWBO from our personal website portal.
Over the years hundreds of public talks have been given by members of the FWBO. Dharmachakra, custodians of this material, are offering their catalogue of these for free download from the Free Buddhist Audio website. This sites also includes transcriptions of almost all of Sanghrakshita’s talks and (unedited) seminars. Alternatively, you can find links to over 200 articles, essays and books from our FWBO Buddhist Articles site.
